Gold Coast Anthropological Society

Gold Coast Anthropological Society

The GCAS has been established to provide a formal means by which individuals interested in Anthropological studies relating to southern Florida & the Caribbean Basin may come together to share and promote their mutual interests. While those interests may include the broad field of anthropology our primarily focus is on the archaeological record of southeastern Florida. We are dedicated to the preservation of that record and to educating the public about Florida’s rich cultural heritage.

The Society meets monthly, September through May, in Broward County. Meetings are usually scheduled for Saturdays from 2 – 4 PM, and refreshments are often included. Additional “workshop” meetings are occasionally scheduled where members can assist the Museum staff in curating the archaeological collection. No experience is needed, we will teach you what you need to know about identifying, handling, sorting, and preserving archaeological artifacts.
